A review for those stuck indoors: The Hunter: Call of the Wild

We already covered a fishing game, so lets get to the best hunting game I have ever played. There are many features that make this one of my all-time favorite games to play when I'm stuck inside, so let's get right to it.

The Hunter: Call of the wild is available on Steam for $20, and there is a ton of downloadable content. You can buy extra hunting grounds for about $8 and equipment packs for $4. You don't have to buy anything extra in order to play the game, but I have personally bought almost every upgrade and it makes the game so much better.

The game is absolutely beautiful, with ultra-realistic scenery and animal models. With the introduction of the TruRACS system you can even see the differences in the animals' antlers and horns.

Completely immersive, it is the closest thing to actually going hunting that I have ever experienced. You have to look for trails and sign, check wind patterns, and actually stalk the animal. When you finally see the animal, up close and in amazing detail, you almost want to keep watching it move around. Almost.

There is a multitude of weapons to pick from, all unlocked through a level and experience system which gives the game an RPG feel. You can choose between hunting revolvers, shotguns, rifles, bows, crossbows, and other specialty weapons. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages.

If you don't want to hunt the world alone, then you can join into the multiplayer mode and experience the game with others. This feature opens up new possibilities for driving game towards a kill zone or observation post.

Whether you want to hunt birds, moose, deer, rabbits, coyotes, bears, lions... the options for game species is insane, with more being added to every expansion. The game has another feature that many don't think about; exploration. The game is affectionately known as a walking simulator because of the detail quality in the terrain. You can walk the edge of a river and see where it takes you. With unique landscapes, as long as your graphics card can handle it, the world is so amazingly detailed that I wish it was in VR.

Give The Hunter: Call of the Wild a try; if you are an outdoors person then you will not regret it.
