EVE Online: A review for those stuck inside

If you like making money, this is the game for you. While it looks like a space combat game with amazing ships and thousands and thousands of players on the same server, at it's heart it's all about becoming a tycoon. I have played on and off for over 8 years, and while the game has seen many updates and changes, at it's core it remains the same.

You are a Capsuleer; genetically modified to be the perfect combat pilot. You are cybernetically enhanced to survive the rigors of space, and with the ability to directly inject skills into your brain it's a little like the Matrix. Except your kung-fu is based around money.

You can train skills in drones, missiles, the different types of ship mounted weapons like lasers and railguns, and much more. You can also train your market skills, and my favorite skillset, mining. It is the epitome of experiencing passive income. You can set your ship up to earn you money while you walk away and eat or do something around the house. Be advised; doing this can result in your characters death and the loss of your ship.

EVE Online is a PvP game through and through, and just when you think you're safe is when you die. While a little frustrating at times, it also opens up this amazingly intricate world of wars between clans, the occupation of sectors of space by massive fleets of real players, and a depth that most games lack.

I can talk for a long while about EVE, but why not just download it and see for yourself? You can play for free as an "alpha clone", with restricted skills and a skill learning cap, but it will allow you to play the game and experience much of what makes it great. If you decide to pay to play then it opens up another amazing opportunity; paying for your game subscription with in-game money.
