Ideas for thriving in the COVID-19 economy

The way we live our lives is changing, and so is the way we earn our livings. While many people benefited from a government handout, earned advanced unemployment benefits, continued under steady employment, or even sold their home at a premium like we did, it looks like another round of stimulus money could be dead in the water atleast until after the election.

So how do we adapt to our changing circumstances? In other articles i've covered living more frugally, earning money online, hunting and fishing your own food and many other ideas. For many of you those ideas are out of your reach, either literally because you aren't physically able to or because creating something online isn't in your skillset. Making a business can come with all kinds of headaches, so many push aside that idea as something that isn't realistic.

This pandemic, when it's over, will have distrupted the entire world. Airlines may not offer service to your destination of choice, theaters may not reopen to watch the latest blockbuster, and your grocery store may not carry some of your favorite food items as the companies who made them may not reopen. There will be a vacuum of goods and services, and predicting which will come back with a vengeance could net you a lot of money.

One idea i've had recently is the electric car market. California has announced that any new vehicle purchased past 2030 new from a dealership will need to be something other than gas powered. It's made a lot of people angry, usually because they think they have to trade in their gas guzzlers and get a "wimpy" prius. Of course you can still keep your old car, but just think about how many people will be switching over to alternative fuel vehicles.

Investing in electric car charging stations, battery companies, startups revolving around making electric cars more accessible, and even hydrogen powered vehicles are all ways of investing soundly in the future. The change is coming, it's just a matter of when to invest and with whom.

As always, stay safe and take care of yourselves. Stay tuned for more blog posts about ways to start living that passive income life we all dream of.
