Paid Surveys: Scam? Or Legit way to earn income?

Updated: Feb 2, 2020

Paid surveys: They are like fruitcakes, they look good from across the room but no-one is getting too excited about diggin' in. We've seen so many people blasting us with ads to sign up here and take surveys that we've become kind of inured to them. So why does everyone still recommend them, and why should you be taking them?

Surveys are either put out there by giant companies who want real world people to evaluate their products / services, or by scam artists looking to mine your personal data. That last one is a bit scary. I have seen many survey scams come through my inbox over my time taking them. This is why I only use older survey sites who use trusted partners that can be researched online. All of the survey sites listed on www.passivelyearn.com are well known companies who have been around for quite a while. The only one I'm not 100% sure of is Slicethepie: I recently signed up to try it and begin my review process, and they didn't ask for any truly personal Information.

So you've picked a reputable site: Is it worth it? I was once in a mall in Connecticut and got payed $20 to take a 5 minute survey about my shopping experience. Online surveys are not like that.

From what I've seen on the sites I use, you well get at MOST a couple dollars a survey, and only on the very rarest of occasions. You are doing unbelievably well if you get around 50 cents for a 5 minute survey. I mainly use PrizeRebel and iRazoo (Referral code: 67MVCM) simply because I can watch videos while I work, on my second monitor.

So should you be taking them? That is up to you, and how much time you can devote to it. I am a morning person; I get up at 5 am every day, make me some coffee, and sit in my computer chair until I have to get ready for work. So about an hour and a half in the morning of working on passive income (surveys, microsoft rewards, etc.) and then after work I might do 30 minutes to an hour of surveys. Every day. No exceptions. I make about $50 a month without putting in any real effort. On months I do try, I can make around $100 a month.

No, you cannot live off $100 dollars a month, and you will get burnt out doing that many surveys. I forced myself to push every day on them until I came up with the money I needed to start this site and blog. That is how I look at surveys - Do them every day until you make the money you need to upgrade and move on to a more productive form of passive income, and then leave the videos running while you work to help make some background money.

No funny picture today, instead I leave you with this: What is wrong with a Chameleon who can't change color? He has a reptile dysfunction.

You are welcome.
