So many projects...

One of the things I hate most about selling a house is the urgency; all the things I'm doing now are things that we've wanted to finish for years but "couldn't find the time" or money to complete them. Yet, somehow we are knocking them out crazy fast in preparation to list. In the end it all comes down to laziness, or maybe even just a lack of motivation, but here we are jumping them into them feet first.

We've built a closet, cased door openings, put vinyl siding and soffit on our garage, added a new decorative column to the back porch, power washed the house, done a little landscaping, and in between the rains we've been packing and moving things to a storage building. There is still some painting and filling in nail holes from pictures and shelves, staging the house, and more projects than I can shake a stick at; and we haven't even started the work on the next house yet.

Without sounding like a total hypocrite, I think it's important to learn our lessons - don't procrastinate on projects around your house. When the time comes to sell and your scrambling like a chicken with it's head cutoff there is no one to blame but yourself, and trust me, I am blaming myself. We just keep telling ourselves that the new house doesn't have as many projects and renovations to complete, and if we can get in and bust our behinds then we can get all the small things done before we get comfortable and lazy again.

Maybe soon I'll be able to get my kayak... a man can dream.
