Starting work on the new house!

Today was a demo day; we began knocking out one of the upstairs bathroom walls out to expand it and allow us some of the amenities we've always wanted. We are putting in a whirlpool tub, rain shower, a double sink vanity, and a makeup vanity for Cass. The walls inside the bathroom are drywall with ceramic tile, which wasn't too bad. The walls in the bedroom and closet we are knocking out are lathe and plaster. Yummy.

When we get done the new bathroom will be about 8 feet deep and about 12-ish feet wide, and our plan is to make it look like one of those fancy spa bathrooms with dark stone and stark white vanities and tub. I'm really looking forward to the whir pool tub after a long day of work or fishing.

I have to run a microwave circuit, as the kitchen currently only has a range hood which is likely a 14-2 Romex and won't handle the amperage required for our Samsung Air Fryer microwave/convection oven. All the tile back splash and floor in the kitchen needs to come out anyway, as we're going back with a different color and painting the cabinets white. If I can finish up those projects then I can maybe take a break through the rest of the summer and pick back up with exterior painting / cleaning in the fall.

I can't wait for fall to get here, and I'm hoping I'll be able to head over to Eastern Kentucky and do some trout fishing. If not, we might go camping and get back to nature for a while. There's always deer season, and I really wouldn't mind a deer carcass as a nice excuse for a meat smoker. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I've really gotten into watching videos about people making camper trailers on YouTube, and since I have a welder (and a very small amount of skill) I'm considering making one myself. If you haven't seen the cost of a new travel trailer yet, you should really check it out; it's enough to make anyone become a DIY expert and try their hand at it. The freedom of being able to go camp right next to the fishing hole does sound amazing, and while there are some "affordable" options out there, you don't get any design input. I want a few luxuries that would be much easier to install during the trailer build than after, like a large battery bank to run some very unessential but "highly necessary" (according to Cass) camping gadgets.

I guess I just can't sit still - if I don't have a project going that I know nothing about then I'll never be forced to learn the skills I need to finish it. We should ALL always be learning, but that's an article for another day.
