YouGov: An honest Review
Updated: Mar 4, 2020
Yesterday was cold, like.... ridiculously cold. As I sat there waiting for a trout to bite (The wiseguys thought it would be funny to refuse to bite for 6 hours straight) I had plenty of time to think about the next site to review.
YouGov has been around for a while, and at 6 million members worldwide they have to be doing something right. As far as how it works, let's dive right in. After signing up you will get a 3 minute long survey that pays 100 points. It's the basic "getting to know you" survey.
The points at YouGov are a little weird, with 1,400 points equaling a dollar. Each country has a unique set of gift cards available, so check to see what options you have available before committing too much time on their surveys. For the U.S., at the time of writing this article, a $15 gift card costs around 35,000 points.
As a bonus for signing up, your first survey will pay 2,000 points, and each survey after that is worth between 300 and 500 points with an average survey time between 5-15 minutes. No survey is over 20 minutes in length.
The one BIG drawback here is that the gift cards are not virtual - they are going to physically send you a real gift card, with a lead time of 2-3 weeks. Yeah, not so good.
There is a lottery, an app for surveys on the go, and there is a huge community involved in the site. There are pros and cons, and I have taken YouGov surveys through other sites and have always found them to be short, easy to complete, and about something interesting. If you're interested in giving it a try, then head over to https://today.YouGov.com to get started.
